NORTH WEST LONDON BLUES

Hello! Welcome to my website. This is where I talk about the songs that I write, the music that I play and the CDs which I have produced of my music.

Please note this website is now www.northwestlondonblues.co.uk. If you arrived here using my old address of www.barryreevesmusic.co.uk I shall be grateful if you will amend your records accordingly, and use this name in future.

My influences are British folk music, blues and rock 'n' roll.

My Latest CD.

CD Keep a Good Thing Alive.

Recorded at the same time as 'Pinner Court Sessions', this CD contains only my own songs. Taken with 'A Year and a Day' these 2 CDs show the high quality of blues and folk playing that I have.

CD "A Year And A Day" is a collection of 13 folk songs, unaccompanied or sung while I play my 30 year old Fylde Goodfellow. A varied collection of live recordings of me during 2007, including 3 from one of my Sunday lunchtime concerts at the Harrow Heritage Centre in the wonderful 16th Century barn. Mixed and put on the CD in January 2008. For full details of this, and your free downloads, please click on the image. CD
N.B. THIS IS A DEMO CD ONLY AND IS NOT FOR SALE
"The Pinner Court Sessions", recorded in one session in my rented flat in Pinner in 2008, has 8 blues songs played in open tunings using a bottleneck. These songs are in a solo 'electric blues' style; the acoustic guitar being fed through a Fender 5w valve amp before being digitally recorded. The Live Near You CD has been favourably reviewed in Blues In Britain magazine Issue 1 Nº71. The reviewer sent me an email stating how much he liked it.

Much was made of my guitar playing, especially my slide or bottleneck guitar playing.

Examples of electric bottleneck guitar playing are found on 'What do you think we get elected for?' on the Barry Reeves CD, and 'Think for Yourself', 'South Hams Blues' and 'What do you think we get elected for?' on the "Electric" CD.

Acoustic bottleneck playing can be heard on 'Crossroad Blues', 'Sweet Home Chicago', 'Love in Vain', 'Ramblin' on my mind' and 'South Hams Blues' on the "Live Near You" CD. Also on '25,000 Volts' on the "Railway Reflections from Metroland" EP.

Lead guitar in a folk/rock style can be heard on 'The River Flows' on the "Electric" CD.

All these tracks are now available as free downloads.
